    Start with your invested corpus

    An SWP is set up on money already invested, typically in mutual funds. Units are redeemed each month to fund the withdrawal.

    Credit the assumed monthly return

    The annual return you enter is divided by 12 and applied to the balance each month, which is a transparent, constant-return model.

  3. 3

    Subtract the fixed withdrawal

    The withdrawal is deducted after growth. If the balance cannot cover it, only what remains is withdrawn and the corpus is exhausted.

    Read the sustainability signals

    The remaining corpus, the depletion year and the interest-only withdrawal figure together show whether the plan is sustainable.

Growth is credited before the withdrawal is taken, and the withdrawal is capped at the balance available, so the corpus can be depleted but never turns negative.
