What the tool does, who it is for and what it cannot tell you.
A salary calculator estimates how much of your pay you actually take home after deductions such as income tax, social contributions and retirement savings.
Gross salary is what you earn before anything is taken out. Take-home (net) salary is what reaches your bank account. The gap between the two is your deductions — the higher the deduction rate, the lower your take-home pay.
Pay frequency only changes how the same annual amount is divided: annual pay is shown once a year, monthly pay is the annual amount ÷ 12 and weekly pay is ÷ 52.
Each step the calculator runs, in plain language.
Add your annual gross salary and any bonus or other income.
Enter an estimated tax rate, retirement contribution and any fixed deductions.
See take-home pay per year, month or week.
The exact maths behind every number on this page.
Take-home = (S + B) − [(S + B) × (t + r) ÷ 100 + D]
Hypothetical example: 60,000 annual salary, 20% estimated tax, 5% retirement contribution, no bonus.
About 3,750 a month in estimated take-home pay.
