The exchange rate is user-entered and may exclude bank fees, spreads and taxes. This tool does not show live exchange rates.

Converted amount = amount × exchange rate, where the rate is how many target-currency units one source-currency unit buys. For example, 1,000 USD at a user-entered rate of 83.5 gives ₹83,500. This tool never fetches live rates — you enter the rate.

Smart Insights

Generated from the numbers you entered — no guesswork.

  • 1,000 USD converts to 83,500 INR at your entered rate.
  • The rate is user-entered — banks and exchangers apply their own rates, fees and spreads.

What is the Currency Converter?

What the tool does, who it is for and what it cannot tell you.

A currency converter multiplies an amount by an exchange rate to express it in another currency.

This converter never calls an external service or shows live rates — you enter the rate yourself, which keeps the tool private and works offline.

How does the Currency Converter work?

Each step the calculator runs, in plain language.

  1. 1

    Enter the amount

The figure in the source currency.

  2. 2

    Choose the currencies

Pick source and target from the common currency list.

  3. 3

    Enter the rate

Target units per one source unit. Use Swap to flip the currencies — the rate becomes its reciprocal.

Currency Converter formula

The exact maths behind every number on this page.

Converted amount = Amount × Exchange rate

Amount
Amount in the source currency
Exchange rate
Target-currency units per one source-currency unit (user-entered)

Swapping the currencies replaces the rate with its reciprocal (1 ÷ rate), because the rate convention flips direction.

Currency Converter calculation example

Hypothetical example: converting 500 USD to INR at a user-entered rate of 83.5.

  1. 1Rate convention1 USD = 83.5 INR
  2. 2Conversion500 × 83.5 = 41,750

500 USD is ₹41,750 at that user-entered rate.

Important assumptions

What this calculation includes, and what it leaves out.

  • The exchange rate is user-entered and constant.
  • Bank fees, spreads, commissions and taxes are not included.
  • Same-currency conversions use a rate of 1 by convention.

Financial tips

Practical guidance to act on your result.

  • Check the rate direction: 1 USD = 83 INR is not the same as 1 INR = 83 USD.
  • Banks and card networks add a spread over the mid-market rate — expect to receive slightly less.
  • Use the swap button instead of retyping currencies; it updates the rate safely.
